I found this website weeks ago thanks to Rachel Maddow. Forget about the Colbert bump. How about the Maddow bump?

Just saw this on Colbert and thought I would join in.
Veterans,
Thank you so much for your service to our country, my family, and me. It is an honor to be served by you and cannot thank you enough for putting yourself in harm's way to ensure my safety.
Lord, bless the Veterans and let them feel your warm embrace. Amen

As a bona fide member of the Colbert Nation, I, too, am proud and supportive of our troops. I get a lump in my throat each time I see a member of the armed services and think of what they sacrifice so that I can remain free.
Thank you, Troops, from the bottom of my heart.

I love catching you on Rachel Maddow's show. Much needed dialogue! Incredible seeing you on Colbert because I know how loyal his fans are. Hell, they were basically able to get a piece of the Space Station after him. Perfect way to get your message out.
Good luck reaching the goal of 100K hits. Keep up the good work!!!

My family has had at least one person in every war since the Revolutionary War, including family members on both sides of the Civil War. This always makes me proud but many times also makes me sad. I hope for the day when there are no more wars, but I know we will ALWAYS need our military. For all you do, I thank you. For anything I can do to help you, I will try.
This nation owes our vets for the very fabric of our lives and our safety. There is not enough we can do to repay you and your families for your sacrifices. I feel proud and humble every time I see or think about our military and our veterans.
Thank you is just too small.

This isn't the place to be gunning for your favorite tv news pundit. ;)
That said, my thanks to Paul for appearing on Colbert and bringing me to the site. I grew up in the military and have an overwhelming respect for my volunteer citizen soldiers. I was deeply moved by Paul's comment that we can "turn the corner from Viet Nam" and truly get behind the men and women coming home from Afghanistan and Iraq.
I've tried to express my thanks with breakfast or coffee for troops I've met at the airport, warm welcome home hugs to the military enlisted and officers I work with, and once giving up my seat on a flight home to help a squad of guys trying to get across the country on leave. For anyone having a hard time seeing a man or woman in uniform and not knowing what to say or do, just give them a wave and a "thank you." You'll be expressing what you feel in just a small way but deeply encouraging that soldier you're saying it to.

I'm proud of the men and women who risk their lives every day for our country in dangerous situations. We all need to do our part to make them feel appreciated and welcomed when they come home!

I am a veteran of both OIF and OEF I am glad to see what you guys are doing in supporting the finest young men and women who voluntarily give their life and time to serve our great country. Lucky for me when I returned I had the support I needed from friends and family and I am currently the better for it and working using the GI Bill. I would also like to recommend that you have some of our troops look into the Western Governors University online programs (of course I realize there are more than just that one, but I can only speak from experience). They are great with veterans and the VA does recognize them, once again to those who have served or are still serving thank you for your service.

... and I appreciate Stephen Colbert for bringing its existence to my attention. Well done.
...if this site "gets the Colbert bump" than wonderful. It's mission is a worthy one.
...as someone who protested the war (in Iraq)... on the streets... I want to express to our troops that everyone I ran into at those events SUPPORTED OUR TROOPS... we just hoped that if we raised our voices as American citizens perhaps we could AVOID putting our TROOPS in harm's way unnecessarily (in Iraq.)
...sadly this did not happen.
...however, I feel its time to deal with WHAT HAS HAPPENED, and not what any citizen personally feels SHOULD have happened in the past...
... its time to put our words into ACTION and support our troops as they come home... and more than with just a sticker or a magnet.
... I too have family that has served our country, in past and present wars, and would like to know more about talking with them about what they went through. It seems whenever I "allude" to, or "bring up" such things... that they clam up. So, I too... want to start a conversation.
...but most importantly I'm glad that this organization exists because all too often in American History we praise our soldiers, just to forget them as time passes. I DON'T WANT TO WATCH THIS HAPPEN AGAIN.
WE, as a country CAN do better.
Thank you to the founders of this org. for starting to address this IMMENSE task... You are true American Patriots.
And THANK YOU to the TROOPS for making sacrifices I can't even start to contemplate... for your country.
Whatever the politics surrounding these wars, our TROOPS answered the call of their country and served at unimaginable cost to themselves and their families.
WE WILL NOT FORGET YOU!
~A Liberal_American_Patriot~

I went through similar experiences with all of my vets, they do clam up when it comes time to share feelings, experiences, etc, try to be patient with them. I will pray for you and you loved ones.

Having served in the military I am more than happy to see this web organization taking off, and to see the GI Bill now offered to our returning troops, AT LAST. Let's all remember to honor their service and welcome & help them as they return home, not just for the first week or year, but for as LONG AS IT TAKES. THANKS COLBERT & PAUL for letting us know about the great site.

....I would be happier if you gave him a shirt more like "Waldo" in the "Where's Wally?" books...sould anything happen to Stephen, the irony og that shirt would sting and haunt us.
...it's not to late to offer different shirt(s) he could wear in more open places, saving the original for a secure venue.
Again, thanks for your work, and the chance to participate.

I want to tell all of you how important a site like this is to our troops. Most of us will never experience the types of events the men and women serving (or have served) our country in war time. As a mother of Iraq vets and wife of a Viet Nam vet, let me tell you what they experience In Country is half the battle. When they come home they need all of us, not just family and friends, but their communities as well. What happens while they are in a war zone for 6 months may stay with them forever. Please support our soldiers, they need us, our compassion, time, and if possible financial support through a reputable group. My husband never healed, he never found peace, now he is gone. My hope is the current wars will end and my boys, your friends, family members, and fellow countrymen will have the love and support they need when they step off the plane.

I truly support the vets in all the wars that have been fought in our name. I have a friend who is physically untouched, but mentally has gone through hell since he has returned. He is doing better now because he is being taken care of by the V.A.
