I want to help and don't see info on the website where I can do so. I am proud of our military.

Hi, I just joined and want to echo the feelings of gratitude all over the site. I do not know any veterans personally but I feel a huge connection to them as a human being. I cannot imagine what being in a war would be like and I want to say I appreciate all of you so much. I live in the Seattle area and anything I can do to help returning vets I would be proud to do!

Thank you again, and I know that is oh so inadequate....

Take care of yourselves and your mental health as well as your physical, because the brain IS physical!

Sincerely,
Kellye Rowland

I would love to help in any way that I can. I can help to support a local family, sponsor a familya nd send clothing/books/food/ect.

I would love to organize groups to welcome home vets at local airports.

I am so proud, appreciative and grateful for all that the vets have done.

Most heartfelt,

I think I can say this in confidence that all of us military families appreciate your words and your support! Depending on where you live is where you can start looking for volunteering. If there's a VA or Vet's Center near by, start there. They have volunteer positions open almost all the time and can usually direct you to a support group that could use your help. Second, I'd go to your local National Guard Armory and see if they have information about support groups. But don't keep your hopes up on that one, while they're so helpful to families who are in the military, civilians are a different story. Thirdly, visit your community center and see if there might be a support group you could join. And if all else fails, don't be afraid to start one yourself!

I just signed up as well, and I've got a few minor suggestions. First, the site says, welcome family and friends - and tells how to start a conversation if you know someone. I love it, but, US vets are all American's vets, but I don't have the privilege to know one personally. The only military bud I have is about to head over there right now. I know a lot of other people are in the same boat; that want to help but dont know how. I think some sort of link "How to Get Started" when you want to help but dont know anyone in particular and just want to volunteer would be good. I live in Houston, I know there are people around here that could use a hand, but I just don't know how to get it started. I'm on another college football message board that just had a care package drive, but I'd like to be able to really help people when they got back.

Also, just saw the post down there "new to the site. DON'T LIKE IT!!!" It is difficult for young people these days to really bring the older generation into our new way of communicating. We are probably missing out on a large chunk of the older generations who cannot find or conceptualize the internet forum.

There are a lot of people who would love to help the vets. Realistically though, a lot of people these days are having a lot of problems at home themselves. It might be good to set up a few tiers of support or something. Like how much can you give, pledge to do this much a month or something. Not just money, unless yall need it, but time wise.

Just ideas. Again, thank yall for everything you have done. Hook 'em.

In the spirit of this site, I think that first you should read over all the info they have on "starting the conversation".

You may not know anyone right now but read it over, tuck it away and when that guy or gal on the bus starts talking to you out of the blue, you might not feel so helpless

I also would really like to help, by doing something more active than just donating money and posting thanks on this website. I don't agree with the war in Iraq at all, however I do support the troops and hate that they have to suffer so much while most civilians here in the US live lives virtually untouched by the war. I'd like to to do something more, but this website doesnt seem to provide much information for that.

I first want to say thanks to all of our troops and their families. I'm a physical thearpist assistant and would like to do more to help out our troops by donating my time and help with any theraputic needs that they have. Of course this would have to go through the proper channels docs etc but contact me if you need any help.
