A comprehensive career website for hiring veterans of America's military.

I am a retired US Army

I am a retired US Army veteran who served in Afghanistan and Pakistan. I have been searching for meaningful employment since July of 2007. It's amazing to see the reality of what the private sector doesn't do to support returning vets to civilian society. With the skills we have developed, one would think that more civilian employers would start paying a little less lip service to being "Veteran Friendly", and actually put their money where their mouth is by hiring more vets than they actually do.

Maybe some vets have experienced the same as I have, and some not, but either way a website such as this has an obligation to help vets in any capacity they can. When it comes to employment among those of us who have served our country and would gladly do it all over again, there should be a national mandate to accomodate as many returning vets to the workforce as possible, especially those with disabilities from minor to severe.

Granted, this country does provide a seemingly limitless supply of websites and resources dedicated to placing vets on the employment radar screen, but those sources seem to have a harder time actually marrying up job seeking vets with position filling employers. Some part of the process seems to fall short as many vets fall back into a state of anonimity. I think it's time for employers big and small to step up to the plate and start looking at the vets as a true source of dedicated professionals who are willing and ready to go to work for them.

Let's hope we can start making true connections that allow vets to re-join the US workforce in a meaningful, collaborative way and that it doesn't take years to see that connection come to fruition. Here's to all vets past, current and future who help keep us free and safe from tyranny. God Bless America!
